Inside the Studio • Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the team behind Fun Life Media?
We are a core creative duo consisting of Keagan (Founder & Lead Creative) and Hendrik (Lead Cinematographer).
We have been operating as a studio since November 2018 and have spent the last half-decade refining a dual-perspective workflow that covers both stills and motion seamlessly.
How do you handle a production together?
We operate as a unified front on-site. While one focuses on the high-definition narrative of Motion, the other captures the definitive moment in Stills. This ensures that your brand’s video and photography feel like they belong to the same cinematic world.
Depending on the project's scale, we frequently scale up, bringing in specialised stylists, MUA, and lighting technicians.
What gear do you use to capture content?
We select the best tool for the specific medium:
- Video: Professional Sony systems for cinematic, high-dynamic-range footage.
- Photography: Fujifilm systems for a distinct, organic aesthetic and superior color science.
- Audio & Stability: Rode microphones for crisp sound and DJI drones/gimbals for smooth, high-impact visuals.
What is your background and expertise?
Our studio is built on a foundation of Logic meets Art.
- Keagan brings a technical edge, having studied Software Development at Varsity College (2013 - 2015) and Web Design, and Digital Marketing Courses at UCT (2016).
- Hendrik is a graduate of AFDA, South Africa’s premier film school, bringing formal cinematic pedigree to every frame we shoot.
What software do you use for post-production?
Our post-production varies between Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro for video, with After Effects for motion graphics.
All photography is meticulously processed through Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Do you offer different levels of retouching?
Yes. We are well-equipped for high-end commercial photo retouching.
However, we also offer a "Standard Grade" service (basic color grading and straightening) for clients who need professional, high-impact assets on a leaner budget.
Are you involved in the Cape Town creative community?
Absolutely. We co-founded Creators Photo Walk, a community that ran for over two years.
We hosted regular workshops and photowalks, partnering with major brands, studios, and modeling agencies to help foster the Cape Town creator ecosystem.
